When Marilyn didn't answer, Derek speaks up again.

Marilyn can't get herself to speak, she would only go into a very intense crying moment.
She just looked down and shook her head, closing her eyes tightly as tears began streaming down her face.

Derek starts to step forward but retracts. If he goes closer, Marilyn might try to run away again.

"Marilyn, I'm sorry. It's my fault... I love you."

Marilyn takes a long moment to get herself together.

She wipes her face with her jacket sleeve. sitting there in front of her house reminded her of her mother.

"I don't know. But I thought if I didn't try it might turn into something worse in the long run. I didn't want to risk that, not when I could help... Not that I'm one to talk since I know I started the whole series of events leading up to last night."
