Derek lie on the bed, the spot he hadn't move from all night. He turned his head as a sound grabbed his attentioned and saw a shadow outside the door. He stands up and walks over.

"Yes?" He says without opening.

Marilyn opens her mouth but no words come out.

She stood there frozen.

After a moment, she spoke.

"I uh...wanted to ask you something.."

Derek opens the door.

"Go ahead."

This wasnt as easy as Marilyn thought.

She was tounge tied, and couldn't think about how to say the words she wanted to say.

There was a ball in her throat. She was tired. Her words were shaky.

"Uh...how am I...supposed to...um.."

She sighed stressfully. She gives up.

"Nevermind.."

Derek shakes his head.

"Just ask." He says, softly.

Marilyn takes a moment to arrange her words correctly.

"Um.."

She sighs again.

"How am I supposed to know that you truly meant it? Or if you really liked me? I mean...I had no way of knowing if...you know..."

She said, looking down at her feet.

She sighs.

"You're right...uh... sorry for bugging you." she says, prepared to walk away.

Derek reaches out and grabs Marilyn's arm.

"It's okay... You... You're not bothering me."

Marilyn feels her heart ache.

"Whenever you left last night...I felt like you wanted nothing to do with me anymore."

Her eyes start to water.

"If I was you I wouldn't want anything to do with me either."

He pauses.

"And that you're here now... It's for a reason..."

"You're right. It is for a reason." she says sadly.

"But I don't think it's the one you're hoping for.."

She pauses.

"I can't stay here anymore."

Derek takes a deep breath slowly releases it.

"I... I still don't want that to happen..."

(i think it'd be cute if they both went home, and Derek unexpectedly looks her up to find her. and when he does she'll be like "omg how'd you find me" and he'll be all like "omg i love you." hehe :b)

"I'm afraid that's the only thing that can happen."
